Cowboy Bebop is not only a great anime – it’s also an inventive and thrilling neo-noir, Western sci-fi romp with stunning animation which more than holds up to this day. It is also one of the first Japanese animated shows which Western audiences took seriously, and was noted for its universal appeal thanks to its themes of loneliness and existential ennui, as well as its killer soundtrack and damn good looks.
