There are a lot of complaints about this chapter, but it’s fine. There have been many more flagrant chapters than this. But maybe we have to just accept the state of this manga and where it’s heading. The developments that are happening are somewhat likable. The Promised Neverland Chapter 162: Grace Field and Emma
Emma’s edge was severely dulled ever since she met the god and made a new promise. The entire aspect of exploring the demon society and solving the ultimate riddle or whatever felt so hurried on its own, and it all finished in an anti-climax where the fans rejected the knowledge of what she really did for no good reason at all. If that was deemed to drive hype up, then the Author shot that shot way too early. It’s wrecking the result of everything that comes later, to have Emma walking around with basically the resolution to the entire story already in her pocket.
Emma having her way with always winning with minimal to no sacrifices makes me feel no sense of fear for what will happen. Perhaps her sacrificing herself in that deal or something will up the tension.
Will we get a chapter in which the author tells us the plan? or will they just improvise and then we find out what the author wanted to do? there’s no excuse to not do it, We never saw the planning phase of the grace field escape. We saw their original plans get prevented and then we saw them switch to a plan B that we never saw until it was executed. We got the ‘planning’ phase after the fact, but we never knew how they pulled it off before it happened.
With how much of the pacing has been since Goldy Pond. We can assume we’ll likely end up starting ‘The Promised Neverland Chapter 162‘ outside of Grace Field preparing for the invasion, with some short words about how the plan is set and we just have to enact it.
