Japanese Film Festival is an annual event organized by Japan Foundation in ASEAN countries. The Japan Foundations is Japan’s institution that carries out international cultural exchange programs. It operates intending to cultivate ties between Japan and the world and to nurture a mutual understanding of culture language and dialogue. In India, the Japanese Film Festival started with the purpose of drawing in a larger audience and creating new market opportunities for Japanese films.

In India, the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is organized in partnership with PVR Cinemas. Looking at the growing popularity of Japanese content in India, the Japan foundation aims to strengthen the content collaboration between Indian and Japanese film industries. The third edition of the Japanese Film Festival in India has announced to feature 25 films of different genres in 7 cities. Above all, it is going to be a six months long festival starting with New Delhi and Gurugram, followed by Chennai, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Mumbai and lastly Kolkata.
