Kingdom chapter 604 is out and I’m happy to see actual Riboku first-hand strategy. He always seems to oversee the whole battle and give little tips here and there. This is the first time that the Author shows us Riboku’s formations. I’ll be excited to see exactly how this will all turn out in Kingdom chapter 605.
Kingdom Chapter 605: The Sword of Unification
The whole tactic just seems to be due to the weird spacing between the troops on the Zhao side. Maybe it’s something like how by not clumping together they have more room to defend and attack against the closely packed Qin infantry, which kind of explains why they were butchered by the cavalry. I’m pretty sure that Ousen will crack the riddle behind the crane formation in Kingdom chapter 605.
I think it’s going to be something similar to how the Ancient Romans fought where the infantry has gaps in the lines. The gaps allowed for the better-trained soldiers to fight more effectively and make it easy to switch out tired troops. It also had the benefit of increased flexibility on rough terrain.
The characteristic of the formation is to let the vanguard and ranged unit to absorb enemy offense, while the side formation spread out to try to envelop the enemy. But if this is indeed the case, then I believe, Ousen might eventually read it and countering it using a formation called “Chouda” by the Japanese, which basically is the natural counter of crane formation, it offers and relies on the frontal attack and suitable for a battlefield with plain characteristic
Moreover, The author is edging us for like ten chapters straight with the second order Rin Shou Jo passed on, hopefully, he’ll end this blue-balling in Chapter 605.
It seems to me that the second order is something along the lines of: “Become a step for their growth” or something. Like I don’t think the second message was negative to whoever was unmovable, but rather an order of supporting that person.
