Scroll Up And Down
What do you see when you look at the image below? At first glance, you may simply see a border of squares surrounding a tilted square in the center.
However, when you scroll up and down, you will quickly realize that there is more to this image.
When scrolling, the square in the center begins moving. However, this is actually just your brain playing tricks on you, as nothing is actually moving.
The Circles Are Not Actually Moving
Similarly, when you look at the picture below, it appears as if the circles are rotating inwards.
However, since it is a still image, there is actually no movement whatsoever.
Your brain creates the movement due to the shape, design, and coloring of the rings.
The Hearts Are Actually Motionless
At first glance, these blurry hearts seem to be completely motionless. With that being said, the longer you stare, the more complex the picture becomes.
Eventually, the orange hearts seem to start shifting from side to side.
There is no explanation as to why this happens – all we know is that it is extremely baffling.
This Is Not A GIF
Many people see this image and believe that it is a GIF. However, it is actually a still image that has no movement at all.
The longer you look at the snakes, the more they seem to move.
In fact, when you move from one snake to the other, they appear to move in opposite directions.
These Fish Are Not Swimming
The fish in the image below appear to move slightly. This is all because of the design and coloring of the shapes.
When your brain identifies the fish, it believes that they should be moving.
For this reason, the image seems to move, even though it is completely still.
Move Your Head
The image below is extremely trippy and can leave you with a major headache if you look at it for too long.
With that being said, the vertical shapes appear to move when you look at them. It also seems as if the squares are slightly tilted.
However, the more you look at the picture, you will realize that the squares are actually perfectly straight. More so, the shapes are not moving and are parallel to one another.
Which Way Are The Rings Turning?
Many people look at the image below and claim that the rings are rotating in a clockwise direction. Others seem to believe that they rotate in an anti-clockwise direction.
In reality, the rings are not moving at all. They appear to move based on which way your eyes move when looking over the hearts.
If you look up, they will rotate anti-clockwise. On the other hand, they will rotate in a clockwise direction if you look down.
These Hearts Are The Same Color
At first glance, it will appear as if the two hearts in the image below are completely different colors.
To be more specific, the heart on the left will look red/purple, while the heart on the right appears orange. Strangely enough, both shapes are actually the exact same color: red.
The blue and yellow lines covering the hearts lead our brains to believe that they are different when they are actually identical.
There Is No Spiral
When you look at the image below, you may believe that it contains one big spiral.
However, there is actually no spiral at all.
Each ring is finite, meaning that it does not continue into the next ring.
Again, This Is Not A Spiral
Again, when you look at the image below, you may think that it is a spiral.
This effect is achieved due to the apparent never-ending rings that disappear into the page.
However, once again, these rings are finite. Have a closer look if you don’t believe us…
Both Hearts Are Grey
The two hearts in the picture below appear to be completely different colors.
The shape on the left looks to be green, whereas the heart on the right is more pink.
Strangely enough, both are actually identical to the grey heart on the far right.
It Is Not Actually Convex
This headache of a picture appears to feature a convex circle in the center.
However, all the squares are actually identical in shape and size.
The only difference is the smaller squares within the center.
There Is No Bright Light Coming From The Center Of The Flower
When you look at the flower below, it seems to have a bright light resonating from the center. This is due to the gradient of each petal.
The center of the petals are bright yellow, whereas the outer rims are almost black.
This makes it seem as though there is a difference in lighting.
This Regular Mug Does Not Have A Hole In The Side
Thanks to the design on the side of this mug, it seems as though there is a massive hole in it.
With that being said, if you could physically pick up the object, you would notice that it is an ordinary cup.
Her Skin Color Is The Same In Both Images
Contrary to popular belief, the two images below are almost identical. The only difference is the color of the dots and background.
Because of this small difference, the skin color of the girl also appears to be slightly different.
In the left picture, her skin seems to have a pink tinge to it, while the right picture features a yellow tinge.
The Hidden Mona Lisa
From close up, this picture appears to feature a Chinese temple.
However, what do you notice when you view the image from a distance?
The shading of this picture allows our brain to construct a portrait of the Mona Lisa.
These Letters Are Not At An Angle
Upon first glance, you may believe that the letters on the sign below are tilted.
On the contrary, they are actually perfectly straight.
The difference in color of the squares and the diagonal lines make the sign appear slanted.
The Wheels On This Bicycle Are Not Turning
Thanks to the ‘spirals’ on the bicycle wheels, they appear as if they are turning. However, this is not actually true.
These wheels do not actually contain spirals and they are definitely not turning.
The Square Is Not Getting Bigger
When looking at the image below, you may believe that the square is getting bigger.
However, upon closer inspection, you will notice that this is all an optical illusion.
Thanks to the sizes of the dots, our brain believes that it is increasing in size.
Do These Stars Seem To Be Glittering?
When you look from one star to another, the others appear to glitter.
This is due to the contrast in color between the background and stars.
More so, the lines surrounding the stars make them look realistic to our brains.
Both Drawings Have The Same Shape
This one is absolutely baffling. Would you believe us if we told you that both shapes are identical?
If you don’t, look harder and you may just figure it out…
The Grid Fixes Itself
This grid would be perfect if it weren’t for the crazy lines on the side.
In order to fix it, all you have to do is stare at the center for a little bit.
After a while, the grid will appear to correct itself.
How Many Black Dots Do You Count?
If we asked you to count the black dots in the image, how many would you get?
The answer is zero. Although there appears to be dots between the corners of the squares, this is actually an optical illusion.
The Blue Dots Are Not Moving
When you look at the image below, it appears as if the circles are moving. However, they are actually completely motionless.
The shape and coloring of each dot lead our brain to believe that they are in motion.
However, this is once again an optical illusion.
Do These Lines Seem Parallel To You?
Upon first sight, the lines in the image below seem slanted.
Contrary to this, they are actually perfectly parallel to one another.
This optical illusion is caused by the coloring of the different squares.
Summary
Above, we have made a list of 25 insane and bizarre optical illusions. Many of the images appear to move, even though they are completely motionless.
Each image leads our brain to see something that is not actually there – for example, motion.
